Surro Files - Who Actually Waits Two Weeks???

We're currently in what is know as the two week wait (TWW).  It's the time span between when a woman ovulates to the time she can expect a positive pregnancy test.  It's a wait that can feel more like 2 months, 2 years, or 2 centuries.  Did it work? or Did it not work?  That is the big question on our minds right now.  Now I know I am supposed to remain calm.  No stress.  Don't worry.  Just think about something else.  Watch a funny movie.  Read a good book.  I'm doing it all, but I can't help but think about testing 24/7 and we're only 3 days past the transfer.  Yes, I've officially boarded the crazy train.  At least I'm not alone.  I'm pretty sure Belle boarded the train 2 days before me.  LOL!  At least we can keep each other company.

Luckily we don't have to wait two weeks to start testing.  A lot of women get positive pregnancy tests as early as 9 or 10 days past ovulation.  Plus, in IVF the babies are transferred after they have already been growing in a petri dish for a few days.  In our case, these embryos were 5 days old already, so that cuts off another 5 days till testing day.  Do the math and you come to the conclusion that we can start testing as early as 4 or 5 days past transfer.  That's tomorrow!!!!!!  I've even seen some women get positive tests as early as 3.5 days past transfer, but I just can't bring myself to test today.  I'm going to wait till tomorrow.  I know we may be disappointed in the result as it's still early, but we may just be surprised.  To tell you the truth, I'm a bit scared.  I know Belle and Adam have everything on the line this time.  I can tell their hearts are well invested and they just know this is it...

So I will just sit here.  Watch my happy movies.  Get lost in my book.  Run errands as usual.  And envision that pink line showing up on our test tomorrow.  I will will it to happen.  It just has to be there!  I know it.  And I'm not even prepared with my one lone test in the cabinet.  Time to go shopping for more tests.

  1. The IVF rule of thumb seems to be when the numbers equal 10, start testing. So that would be 5dp5dt. So if you test early and don't see that pink line, don't get discouraged!!! Keep peeing!!! :)

    1. I know we'll be a day early so I won't be too discouraged if we see a negative, but really hoping we'll all get a good surprise.
