GroVia Hybrid All In Two - Review

I've said it before and I will say it again.  I am so amazed at how much I love All-In-Two's.  I never even wanted to try All-In-Two's, but now they're some of my favorite diapers.  I always questioned how you could possibly use a diaper shell more than once (especially when it has a liner in it), and I wasn't sure how I was going to unsnap an insert without getting all messy.  Oh was I wrong.  Not only is the system so incredibly easy, but I can use the shells two, three, or even four times before throwing them in the wash.  How awesome is that?!?!

One of the first All-In-Two systems that I came across was the GroVia Hybrid All-In-Two system.  My sister and I were pregnant at the same time and I wanted to get some cloth diapers for my sister to test out.  She was very hesitant about cloth so I thought the GroVia Hybrid system would be perfect for her.  She could start out with the disposable BioSoakers and then ease her way up to the Organic or Stay Dry Soaker Pads.  It was at that time that I decided I would try out one of the GroVia Hybrid shells as well.  I got a pack of the BioSoakers to test out as well as a two pack of the Organic Soaker Pads.  I wasn't in love with them at first when Lincoln was still just a wee one, but as soon as he grew into them and I didn't have to fold the soaker pad anymore, I LOVED them!!!!  Just recently I added another shell and the Stay Dry Soaker Pads to my stash as well and love the soft texture of them.  So far I've only used the hook and loop closure version, but I'm dying to try a snap closure.  Check out the features below as well as my performance review to see how these diapers worked out for us.  Spoiler Alert! ... shhhhhh ... we love them !!!

Diaper Features:

Diaper Type: All In Two

Size Range: One Size diaper fitting babies from 8-35lbs adjusted via a snap down rise

Waist Closure: Snaps or Hook & Loop

Exterior: TPU (in solids or prints)

Interior: Polyester Mesh

Inserts: There are three options:

  1. Organic Soaker Pad - These snap in inserts have a TPU outer and 5 layers of certified organic cotton jersey.  In addition they have organic cotton leg gussets.
  2. Stay Dry Soaker Pad - These snap in inserts have a TPU outer, four layers of hemp/cotton blend, and are topped with a super soft microfleece.  In addition they have microfleece leg gussets.
  3. BioSoaker - These are disposable inserts that lay inside your diaper shell or stick into underwear with sticky tabs to be used as a trainer.  They are fragrance, dye, plastic, & chlorine free.  See GroVia BioSoaker Review here.

Performance Review:

Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥ - These diapers are so easy to use.  The snaps work great and are very easy to use on the rise.  I also think the soakers are really easy to snap in and unsnap.  I typically will use a wipe in order to remove my dirty inserts so my hands don't get messy.  The only difficult part is the hook and loop.  This stuff is strong!  Sometimes it takes a bit of pulling to get it undone.  At least you know your toddler won't be able to get their diaper off.  They also recommend that you stick the tabs under a loop that is over the laundry tab.  This is not exactly an easy task, but it's supposed to keep the tabs from curling and cracking.

Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥ - These diapers were a bit too bulky for my newborn, but after a month or two they worked great!  I get a perfect fit every time now.  I have not tried the snap version, but I do know that with the hook and loop I can get a custom fit on the waist, and the rise snaps get a great fit as far as the rise goes.  I also like that the soakers have elastic so that they  too can stretch to where I need them to be.  As far as fit, this is a super trim diaper!  If you have a trim outfit you want your baby to wear then this is the diaper for you.

Leak Protection: ♥♥♥♥ - These diapers were bullet proof during the day.  I don't think I had one leak or blow out.  As for during the night they did not hold up for me.  He ended up leaking with the Stay Dry Soaker with a hemp insert added in (I did not have any GroVia boosters to try).  As for the inserts I love them!  The TPU layer really helps to keep the shell dry in between changes.  The gussets do an ok job of keeping the poop off the shell, but I will say that it wasn't bullet proof.  I'm not sure that there is a bullet proof solution to breastfed poop.

Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥ - These diapers are very easy to wash.  Snaps are easier than the hook and loop version though.  With snaps you can just throw it in the wash and not worry about it.  With the hook and loop version you need to remember to fasten your laundry tabs.  I just hang dry all the shells and throw the soakers in the dryer.  The soakers take a bit longer than other inserts since they are lined with TPU and have natural fibers, but they are always dry by the end of my dry cycle (90 min).

Bang For The Buck: ♥♥♥♥ - This is an All In Two diaper so you really get a bang for your buck.  If you figure using the shell three times then it comes out to about $14.60 each diaper.  That's a great price for such a high quality cute diaper!  That being said I didn't find this diaper to work extremely well for a newborn so I would still recommend getting a newborn stash of diapers.

Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥ - The quality and durability of these diapers is awesome!  You can just see the quality looking at them.  The only problem I've had is with the hook and loop closures curling a bit.  It doesn't bother me that much, but it would be nice if they didn't do that.

The Look: ♥♥♥♥ - Some diaper companies are great at picking out prints and color and GroVia is one of those companies.  They make one super cute looking diaper!!!  I wish I had both a girl and boy to cloth diaper just so I could use some of the super cute girl prints as well, but I'm happy with the cute boy prints.  I'm really loving the new Bicycles print.  I just have to have that one!!!  The only downfall is the curling of the hook and loop closures, but it doesn't bother me as much as it does other people I've heard from.

In Conclusion:
I love these diapers!!!  They've become one of my favorites in my stash.  I still can't decide if I like the organic or the stay dry better, but I think I'm leaning towards the stay dry.  I love the soft feeling and I'm sure Linc likes to feel dry.  I've only got two shells right now and I definitely plan on getting more.  I know I need to try a snap version one day, but I just love the ease of the hook and loop as well as the look of the contrasting wing color.  Oh the decisions!!!  I also want to try some of their boosters.  That's also next up on my list of things to get.  So in short, would I recommend these diapers?  Definitely!!!

  1. Did you find that the poo stayed in? Maddox is 4mos and EBF and Grovia are great for pee, but awful for poos for us.

    1. Linc is EBF too. The poop didn't stay on the insert, but it never leaked out of the diaper. I've yet to find an AI2 that would keep EBF poop on the insert only.

  5. These are in the daddy stash and we absolutely love them.
As my daughter is ebf, grovia is excellent at keeping blow outs at bay, and she looks so darn adorable in the prints.
If anyone is looking for an ai2, or something easy for dads/babysitters/grandparents, this is our go to diaper!

  6. We love our GroVia diapers. They provide a really great fit on my son but we have not used the grovia inserts with them. We have only used applecheeks bamboo inserts in there from my son's old applecheeks that he out grew :)

  8. This review has made me majorly consider cloth diapers for when my first little one comes along.

  9. I like having the hybrid option, even though I usually prefer all cloth. Might be good for traveling.

  10. i love the prints... these are one of my favorite looking diapers!

  11. I'm pretty sure I'd never use the hybrid option. We have tons of disposable liners that came with various used diapers we purchased, and we never use them. I'm guessing this would be the same.

  12. I think grovia's are a good solution for on the go families. They seem like a great option for travel.. Plus the prints are so cute, I love the owl one!

  15. These are my favorite babysitter diapers. They are full proof and can go a little longer without changing right away. Also great for outings! I love their new prints

  21. We just started using the GroVias recently. I love them! We started with the biosoakers and a few shells for vacation. Love them! So cute and it felt way better than using up a whole case of disposables while we were away!

  22. Seems like the leg elastic on these aren't as tight as the AIO's. I hate the GroVia AIO we have now bc it's so tight around the leg.

  23. I've considered trying out these diapers when my baby is a bit older (he's due in June). I love the fact that you can re-use the shell and just change out the inserts. It's almost like prefolds and covers, just easier to use. Good price, too!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I have been die hard AIO for a while now (no kid yet, so no actual experience), but the more I read (and reading your review), I like the idea of being able to reuse a cover several times instead of having to wash EVERY use even if the insert is only wet.

  25. I love the owl print, too cute!

  26. Ive never tried an all in 2 because they don't make sense to me but after reading this I think id like to try them!

  27. I have never used the grovia diapers due to not being able to afford them but would absolutly love too.

  28. the further and further we get into our cloth diapering journey, the more i'm loving diapers that i never imagined i'd love...like AI2!

  29. I have some AI2s, but I've never reused the outer shells... either my girls pee a LOT, or I'm using the wrong brands!

  31. Thank you for the in-depth review. I didn't know that the inserts actually have gussets on them. What an interesting feature!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I like the system in general. I want to see how well it works with prefolds.

    ReplyDelete
  33. love the option of three different inserts!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm usually one for pockets, but this seems like a good cross between insert and AIO. Love the prints!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Cute diapers! I love Grovia trainers but haven't gotten to try their AI2 yet.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I wish the liner could be wiped clean -- because the ability to use a soaker or disposable insert is such a great idea, especially when starting out :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. We use AI2s but I have been very hesitant to try Grovia. I see them all the time and every time I would think "maybe" but then I'd be too nervous to give them a go. Mostly, I didn't realize what the "outer" was and I thought it would leak through. Now I understand what it is and it sounds like a great diaper. And the fit looks amazing!

  38. Love the Ai2. . . want to try the biosoakers

    ReplyDelete
  39. These look awesome ! I love that you can re-use the shell a few times before washing ! I hope to try these soon.

  40. i would love to try the stay dry or organic soaker pads. I have these with the biosoaker, and I hate them! Maybe not hate, but I prefer not to use them. I can't get them to stay in place and I had plenty of leaks with the biosoakers. They do work great on vacation when I won't be able to wash as often and don't want to carry a bunch of dirty diapers around.

  41. I am new to cloth, but definitely wanting to try an AI2. This Grovia seems like a good place to start!

  42. Great Review! Thanks and I love the prints they have!

  43. Great review! Most of our stash is Grovia AI2s and we just love them. When I started looking into cloth diapers, I really wanted to find something easy to use (so my husband would use them) and that would work well from birth to potty training (I didn't want to have to spend more money to buy different sizes). We've been able to use them from day 1 and like you, no leaks during the day, some at night. Since them, I purchased or received different brands of diaper but we always go back to Grovia, they work best for us.

  44. I want to try these out!

  45. I love the versatility of these--perfect for when we travel and have no access to washing.

  50. I love the aplix on these shells - so sticky!

  51. I have one Grovia Shell and I like to use it with trifolded prefolds. I really want to try the new stay dry pads or even the biosoakers for traveling.

  52. I've got one of these to try on #2 after he gets here in August. I've never tried an AI2 and I'm excited to see how it works.

  53. I'd love to try these out since we're going to be doing a lot of traveling this summer.

  54. I've got a Wonderwrap (made by Grovia before they changed the name and what they made). Love them. Work so well around chunky babies. But I haven't invested in their new ai2 system.

  55. First off, THANK YOU, Adventures In Fluff, for all your reviews and hard work! I have only been researching cloth diapers for the past 2 weeks and because of your videos and reviews, I am now totally and completely hooked on cloth diapering. I'm due in late June with my first (boy!) and really look forward to using cloth. So, thank you! I'm with you in your love for AI2's, I think. It just seems so economical and easy! Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'd love to try them. I only wish they had a wipeable inner so that I could just wipe a pee diaper and put it back on. I feel like the cover gets wet too when my son pees.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I have one of these and use the organic soaker pads. It's a great diaper but the velcro isn't my favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  67. These look really cute and SOFT! I have a couple AI2's and I like them...not my favorite, but I love that they are all super cute!! :) These actually seem a little more practical than the ones I have now. Thanks for the review!

  68. These diapers are super cute and look really COMFY! I have a few AI2's, which are super cute but aren't my fave. I love all the different options with these though and they look really well made. Thanks for the review mama!!

  76. Great review. I also like the contrasting wing color

    ReplyDelete
  77. I love all the different options on this diaper. I have never used the disposable liners though.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I have this diaper and I love the shell. It has really high quality elastics and a trim fit. I also find that it snaps down to a good small size for newborns as long as you don't use the gro via insert and use something smaller.

I do have to say, though, that I wasn't impressed with the soaker pads. I never found them particularly absorbent and we often got leaks because the pad was soaked. This was on a toddler. They may work better for younger babies. I switched to using medium prefolds folded inside the govia shell and really liked that solution. It was way more absorbent and it dried much more quickly. It did not have the benefit, however, of the PUL backing found on the soaker, but that isn't much of a benefit if the soaker overflows anyhow!
