I know last week I shared with you a diaper that surprised me and this week I’m going to share with you another diaper that surprised me by how well it works. It’s another diaper that looks basic on the outside, but when it comes to function it really shines. I’m talking about the Kawaii Heavy Duty HD2. I actually did a “First Glance Review” on this diaper in November before Lincoln was born. You can read my review here, or read on below for a quick re-cap about the specifics on this diaper. I also did a video back in November that will give you a great look at this diaper and I’m posting that below as well.
The Specifics:
- Pocket Diaper
- One Size Diaper 8-35 lbs
- One Size Diaper 8-35 lbs
- Exterior is TPU
- Interior is Suede Cloth
- 2 Large microfiber inserts are included
- Waist closures are hook and loop and have cross over tabs so that they fit a smaller baby. Fold back laundry tabs are included to prevent hook closures from sticking to other diapers and accumulating lint.
- Rise adjustments are made via a three column snap down rise with three size settings (small, medium, & large).
- 6 solid colors and 1 print
Ok, now on to the good stuff. So how does this diaper work for us you ask? Well it works great! I use it during the day sometimes, but where this diaper really shines is at night. Keep reading on below to find out why I love this diaper.
Kawaii Heavy Duty HD2 - $6.99 / 8-36 lbs (Overall Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥)
***This video is from my first review before we used them***
Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥♥ -
I always get a great fit with this diaper. I love that it’s a hook and loop closure so I can always get a super custom fit around the waist. I always get a great fit around the legs as well. This is one of the reasons I love this diaper for nighttime use. You really need a great fit when you have a diaper on for that long. My only complaint on adjustability is that although this diaper comes with two inserts, they are both the same size. I wish that one was a little smaller so that it fit better when the diaper is at its smallest setting and one was a little larger so it fit better in the largest setting. It seems as thought they just went middle of the road for both inserts.

Leak Protection: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I haven’t had any leaks with this diaper. At night I always back it with a hemp insert and that does the job for the whole night. During the day I just use one of the provided microfiber inserts.
Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Washing is very easy with this diaper. the only work is that you have to remember to attach your hook closures to the laundry tabs and you need to remember to remove the insert from the pocket. LOVE the laundry tabs on this diaper. The work really well, are super easy to use, and I've had no problems with them coming undone in the wash.
Bang For The Buck: ♥♥♥♥♥ - You can’t get much better than the price of this diaper. Not only is this a one-size diaper, but it’s got a super low price tag, and it works. Whoot! Gotta love that. This is probably the BEST bang for your buck diaper I own.
Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I’ve been using this diaper for a couple weeks now and it still looks great. They quality seems very good and the aplix is holding up way better than their old school aplix version.

The Look: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Ok, it’s not that snazzy looking. Kawaii’s got a lot of other diapers that look way cuter than the Heavy Duty diapers, but if you just want a basic looking diaper that does the job then this diaper is for you. I will admit that the new sewn in hook and loop closures look way better than the extended hook and loop closures that they had before.
In Conclusion ...
Max (Lincoln's Cousin) at 6 weeks and 9 lbs |
Lincoln at 3-1/2 mos and 16 lbs |
If you’re looking for a no frills workhorse diaper that does the job and it does it well without breaking the bank then this diaper is for you. I personally don’t plan on stocking up on these since I'm a prints and style type of girl, but the diaper works great so I don't plan on getting rid of this diaper either. I recommend this diaper highly for those looking for the best deal out there. You won't find one better that this!

Chana, thanks for the excellent review! I clicked to buy and was thrilled to find they have a white diaper with green camo. :) Only problem is they charge ALOT for shipping ($12.75 for 2 diapers). Are there other places I could get these?
