My Perfect Newborn Fluff Stash

Now that I'm done posting my Newborn Cloth Diaper Reviews (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4) it makes me wonder. What would my newborn cloth diaper stash look like if I was to do it all over again? Mind you I don't plan on getting pregnant again so Lincoln will be the one and only newborn I get to cloth diaper, but it's fun to wonder... What if ?

I'm not sure if you remember way back when I wrote a post titled "The Newborn Stash".  It went over all the diapers I planned to use during the newborn phase.  LOL!  I guess it changed a lot.  Yes, I ended up getting the diapers I listed ... but I also got a lot more.  Ok, "My name is Chana, and I'm a cloth diaper addict".  I wonder if I still would have been happy if I had stuck to my original plan.  I think I would have been.  Would it have been my perfect newborn stash?  No.  But it would have worked.  Here's a list of what I had planned on using for the newborn stage.

Now that would have been all good and dandy, but having went through the newborn stage and knowing what I know now, I would have done things a little differently.  Although I tried to spread the love and use all my newborn diapers I definitely had my favorites that I always grabbed first.  Each diaper had it's specific purpose with a certain time of day I would use them or a certain activity that I preferred to use them during.  Having said that, here is my perfect newborn stash.  I only wish I was brave enough (or crazy enough) to have another baby so I could create this perfect stash and use it.  Boo!  Oh well.  Maybe one of you could use it and let me know how it works out.

(Qty: 4) Ragababe Easy AIO - Size: Newborn $26-$28

This would be my go to daytime diaper especially if anyone was going to see him in a diaper.  Love the look.  Love the fit. Love the absorbency.  Don't love the price, but they have a great re-sale value so I would anticipate on getting a lot of my money back.

(Qty: 3) Kissaluvs Newborn AIO - $14.95

This would be my go to out of the house diaper during the first week or two when the umbilical cord is still on.  I hate having a two piece system when out of the house.  I loved the fit of this diaper and the price was pretty good as well.

(Qty: 2) Happy Heinys Mini OS - $18.97

This would be one of my daytime diapers.  I love all the patterns that these come in and I love that they are so adjustable and last a long time size wise.  They fit nice and are super easy for dad to put on.  I also like that it's a pocket diaper and super easy to stuff.

(Qty: 4) Thirsties Duo Diaper w/Snaps - Size: 1 - $18.25

This would be one of my daytime diapers while I was still using my fitted diapers at night, but later turn into my go to night time solution in the later months.  I love the fit of these.  I love the inserts (especially when you add an extra hemp insert for the night).  The prints and colors are nice and you can't beat the durability and absorbency of these.  I'd pick snaps over aplix because I found it to hold up way better than the aplix.

(Qty: 2) Rump.a.rooz G2 OS Pocket w/Snaps - $23.50

Gotta love a One-Size diaper that works on a newborn.  I LOVE the Rump.a.rooz prints too.  This diaper works great and looks even better.  I like the snaps because even when your baby can use their hands, they'll have a hard time opening the snaps.  Snaps last longer anyways which is great when you have a OS diaper.  These will be great from beginning to end.

(Qty: 9) Kissaluvs Cotton Fleece Fitted V2.0 - Size: 0 - $13.95

I LOVED my Kissaluvs for nighttime on a newborn.  They were easy to put on, easy to take off, and oh so soft!  They also helped to contain everything including those messy newborn poops during the night.  I felt that because these contained so well, I didn't need that many covers.  I NEVER got poop on my covers.  I love that these have an umbilical cord snap down and fit on babies up to 15lbs.  

(Qty: 3) Thirsties Cover - Size: XS - $11.50

Love my Thirsties Covers!  These are great for those first couple of weeks.  The Duos are great in the long run, but I feel that the sized covers fit better on a bitti newborn and look nicer.  I'd only get three though because I'd want a couple covers to last past the newborn stage.

(Qty: 2) Thirsties Duo Wrap w/ Aplix - Size: 1 - $12.75

Love the economical value of the Duo Wraps.  They get as small as an XS Thirsties cover, but last wayyyy longer.  Although I think the snap version lasts longer, I wouldn't plan on using the wraps past the newborn stage so longevity isn't an issue for me with this one, thus I'm going for ease of use here.

(Qty: 12) Green Mountain Diapers Cloth-eez Prefolds - Size: Newborn - $2.00

Now, I'm not much of a prefold girl, but since I didn't like most of the newborn options with an umbilical cord snap down I would probably use these for the first week or two until the cord fell off (in addition to my Kissaluvs AIO's and Fitteds).  After that point they'll just be use for back up diapers, doublers, burp cloths, and covers to lay over my changing pad.

So there's my perfect newborn stash!  You'll probably notice I'm still a bit eclectic, but I think one type of diaper is just too boring.  I like to spice it up a bit.  Please note that when I selected my perfect newborn stash I took into consideration the size of my children when they were born.  They were all 7lbs or above so I never had a bitti baby.  If I had then my choices might be a bit different.  But for the average size to large size newborn, I think this is the perfect stash that takes into consideration style, price, durability, longevity, and of course function.  Hope this helps you in your newborn cloth diaper research.  Happy Fluffy Shopping!

Newborn Diaper Reviews (PART 4) - Prefolds and Fitteds

This is Part 4 of my Newborn Cloth Diaper Reviews series.  I've decided to do this part a little differently.  Normally I do my heart rating system, but I felt I was getting very repetitive in my writing on each of the options in this particular series so I've opted to just write a short synopsis of each one.  While with the All-In-Ones, Pockets, & Covers I tried to spread the love and try them all equally ... I did not seem to do the same with my fitted diapers and prefolds.  I quickly found my favorites and tended to stick to those.  For that reason I am sorry to say that I do not feel that my reviews on these options are as valuable as the others, but I've decided to post what I did notice with each option anyways.  I hope it helps in your selection of newborn diapers for your little one.

Kissaluvs Cotton Fleece Fitted (Size:0) - $13.95 / 5-15 lbs 

I LOVE the Kissaluvs Cotton Fleece Fitted diapers!  I used these every night during the newborn stage.  They are so soft and snuggly and fit Lincoln perfectly.  Because they have an umbilical cord snap down I was able to use these right from the start.  I found they actually fit better with the umbilical cord snap down so I left them that way for most of the time that Lincoln wore them.  They were very absorbent and paired with any of our covers we never had a leak.  They were especially great at keeping the newborn poop in.  We never had poop escape these fitted diapers so I never got poop on my covers let alone outside the covers.  I also found these diapers surprisingly very easy to use despite the snaps.  There is only one snap per wing so after two or three diaper changes I had the snap routine down perfectly.  As for the look of these diapers, I went for the colored option.  They're a dollar more per diaper, but I love the cute pastel colors and they looked so cute on my boy's bitti bum.

Thirsties Duo Fab Fitted (Size: 1) - $17.00 / 6-18 lbs

I like my Thirsties Duo Fab Fitted.  I love that it's a hook and loop closure therefore a quick change.  I love that it has a stay dry liner so that Lincoln's butt won't have a wet soppy feeling when I take it off.  I love that there's a pocket built in so I can not only stuff the diaper with additional inserts if needed, but it also helps the diaper get cleaner and dry faster than if the pocket was not there.  Another great feature of this diaper is the two size system with a snap down rise.  These diapers fit longer and give you more bang for your buck than a totally sized system or a standard newborn diaper.  The Fab Fitteds also come in super cute colors and a super soft texture.  So many great things about this diaper, but for some reason I never really reached for this diaper.  I always went for my Kissaluvs over this diaper.  It could be because I could use the Kissaluvs earlier due to the snap down rise so they became a favorite early on, but that still doesn't seem like a good enough reason.  I think it was the fit of the diaper.  Although they both did their job, I just liked the way the Kissaluvs fit Lincoln better.  The Thirsties were a little thicker and required a bigger cover.  Most likely this was due to the snap down rise.  Even now though if I use a fitted diaper (which is rare), I will use my larger size Kissaluvs or my Green Scene fitted.  I can't place why I don't favor the Thirsties ... I just don't.

Cloth-eez Workhorse Diapers (Size: NB) - $4.95 / Preemie - 10 lbs

These are fitted diapers made from GMD Cloth-eez Prefolds.  The concept of these is great and so is the price.  I like the trim fit and the absorbency is pretty good with room to spare for a doubler.  They're pretty basic looking, but then again what do you expect for this price?  Unfortunately they didn't fit Lincoln very well.  I had a hard time getting the perfect fit with their snaps.  I saw on GMD's website that they're going to start selling these snapless this spring though.  I would totally buy them snapless and use a snappi.  Then I'd be able to get a perfect fit.

DIY Upcycled T-Shirt Winged Prefolds (Size: NB) - $0.00 / 6-13 lbs 

If you've been following my blog for awhile then you'll remember my tutorial on how to sew your own Upcycled T-Shirt Winged Prefolds.  I created these after I found a tutorial for daddy flats and wanted to improve upon the design.  These turned out to be my favorite prefolds and I loved using them.  They're by no means a nighttime diaper, but for the day they are great!  I love the trim fit of these prefolds and I love the stretch of the fabric.  I could really get a great fit on the waist.  They were also very easy to put on and worked great with a Snappi.  I used these with my smaller covers like my Bummis.  If I needed more absorption I could add a small doubler without adding too much bulk.  I also loved that I could create really cute prints from t-shirts I had at no cost, or go out and buy knit fabrics and create even cuter diapers and a small cost.  In the end my greatest love for these diapers came from the fact that I made them myself and it was a great feeling to know that Lincoln was wearing diapers made by mommy with love.

Cloth-eez Prefold - aka GMD (Size: NB) - $2.00 / 6-10 lbs 

In the beginning of my cloth diaper research I said I was not going to try prefolds.  They just seemed like too much work and cost was not a factor for us in cloth diapering.  Why bother I thought?  Well, I'm glad I tried them and especially glad I tried the GMD prefolds.  They were such great quality and turned out to be quite fun to master the various folds.  That being said, I didn't use my prefolds that often.  I mostly just used them to say I did, but in reality I found them to be more work and bulkier than my other options.  As for Cloth-eez (GMD) Prefolds vs other prefolds, I can't say much.  They are the only cotton prefolds that I used.  They do seem to be a great quality though.  They fluff up very nicely and absorb quite a bit of liquid.  The sizing also seemed to be true to what they said as far as baby weight.  So, am I glad I tried them? Yes.  Will I continue to use them?  Probably not.

DIY Extended Tab Prefolds (Size: NB) - $2.00 / 6-13 lbs **using GMD Prefolds**

While testing out my prefolds before Lincoln got here I realized that the wings were hard to wrap around my teddy bear model.  This sparked my DIY side to take over and I came up with the idea to sew Extended Tabs on my Prefolds.  I wasn't sure if they would really be better, so I only sewed tabs on half my prefolds.  I ended up loving them though.  They really made wrapping the prefolds around Lincoln's waist a lot easier and also extended the life of my prefolds.  It seems like prefolds always get too tight on the waist before they get too short on the rise.  This leaves an awkward size gap.  The tabs really solve this problem.  My only dislike with the extended tab prefolds was the fabric I chose to make them with.  While flannel worked ok, I think a knit terry would have been better.  The more I washed the flannel the better the Snappi worked with them, but I think a knit terry would have been nice to give stretch to the tabs and work better with a Snappi.

BabyKicks Hemparoo Fleece Prefolds (Size: SM) - $6.59 / 7-13 lbs

I'm not really sure I'm even qualified to write about these since I only used them once.  Honestly I just forgot that I had them.  The one time I did use one it worked very well though.  These can realllllly soak up some liquid and it didn't even feel that wet.  I'm definitely going to keep them around to be used as doublers.  That's the great thing about newborn prefolds.  After you're done using them as a prefold they have so many other uses.  They better have a lot of uses with this price though.  They're more than three times the price of a cotton prefold.  Worth it?  Yes, if you're going to use them as doublers later on.

Newborn Diaper Reviews (PART 3) - Covers

I'm back again today with Part 3 of my Newborn Cloth Diaper Reviews series.  Today I'm going to go over all of the covers that I used during the newborn period.  I almost didn't even write a post for covers because they all pretty much worked out great.  It seemed like whenever i used a cover I got a great fit and I never had any leaks or blowouts.  In the end I did decide that there are subtle differences that do put certain covers in front of others even if those differences are miniscule.  So listed below are all the covers we used and how they rated for us performance wise.  I was bummed when I realized that I didn't get a picture of Lincoln in each of the covers, but I do have a video review that will give you a closer look.  I hope this helps your decision making process go easier when building your own newborn cloth diaper stash.

Thirsties Duo Wrap w/Aplix (Size: 1) - $12.75 / 6-18 lbs (Overall Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥)

Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥♥ - These covers are so easy to use.  All I had to do was adjust the rise periodically as Lincoln grew, but other than that they were easy on, easy off.

Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥♥ - These fit great!  I love that they fit such a large size range too.  The aplix gives a perfect fit around the waist and the rise snaps give me options as Lincln grows.  I also found that the rise snaps came in handy for sizing up when I'm using a huge prefold or fitted diaper.

Leak Protection: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I've never had a leak or blowout!

Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Very easy wash routine.  You just have to remember to stick the aplix tabs on the laundry tabs before washing.  Once in awhile they would come off, but that was VERY rare.  I love how fast they dry on my drying rack too.  In an hour or less they're ready to go.

Bang For The Buck: ♥♥♥♥♥ - These diaper covers are such a great value!  The price is right and you can use them for a long time.

Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥♥ - The quality is pretty good, but the aplix does wear out after a bit of use and you need to remember to throw them in the dryer every now and then to get their stick back.  I also noticed pilling on the inner gusset binding.  Other than that these are great.

The Look: ♥♥♥♥♥ - The prints and colors are pretty cute and vibrant.  They're not my favorite, but at least they're not boring.

Thirsties Cover (Size: XS) - $11.50 / 6-12 lbs (Overall Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥)

Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥♥ - These covers are so easy to use.  Easy on, easy off.

Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Love the fit of this diaper!  It really fit well.  The aplix gave me endless options on the waist and the leg gussets always hugged Lincoln's legs without being too tight.  No rise adjustments though so if I had a huge prefold or fitted then I couldn't use this cover.

Leak Protection: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I've never had a leak or blowout!

Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Very easy wash routine.  You just have to remember to stick the aplix tabs on the laundry tabs before washing.  Once in awhile they would come off, but that was VERY rare.  I love how fast they dry on my drying rack too.  In an hour or less they're ready to go.

Bang For The Buck: ♥♥♥♥♥ - They reduced the price a bit on their sized covers from their duo covers, but I still think the duo is a better value.  In my opinion it works just as well as the sized if not better.

Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥♥ - The quality is pretty good, but the aplix does wear out after a bit of use and you need to remember to throw them in the dryer every now and then to get their stick back.  I also noticed pilling on the inner gusset binding.  Other than that these are great.

The Look: ♥♥♥♥♥ - The prints are pretty cute, but there aren't a lot to choose from.

Bummis Super Lite Cover (Size: NB) - $10.00 / 6-10 lbs (Overall Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥)

Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥♥ - These covers are so easy to use.  Easy on, easy off.

Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥♥ - These diapers fit very well.  The leg elastic is a bit wider than covers with gussets, but I didn't see this as a drawback.  There are no rise adjustments on this cover though so if I had a large prefold or fitted diaper, then I couldn't use this cover.

Leak Protection: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I wasn't sure if this cover was going to work well for the newborn stage since it didn't have gussets, but it worked just as well as my covers that did.  I was very surprised!

Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Very easy wash routine.  You just have to remember to stick the aplix tabs on the laundry tabs before washing.  Once in awhile they would come off, but that was VERY rare.  I love how fast they dry on my drying rack too.  In an hour or less they're ready to go.

Bang For The Buck: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Love the price of this diaper cover!  It doesn't last as long size wise, but they made up for it with price.

Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥♥ - The quality of this diaper is ok.  It held up fine and the aplix tabs worked better than others, but the stitching is not as nice on this diaper cover as others.

The Look: ♥♥♥♥♥ - The look is very basic and plain.  I do like the soft texture of the PUL exterior though. I also like the wide waistband and wide leg bands.  I do not like the tag on the outside.  I really wish Bummis would re-design their tag to look nicer.  I'd cut it off if I wasn't going to sell this diaper.

Bummis Super Brite Cover (Size: NB) - $12.65 / 4-9 lbs (Overall Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥)

Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥♥ - These covers are so easy to use.  Easy on, easy off.

Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥♥ - If you're expecting a small baby then this is the cover for you.  This was the smallest of all my diaper covers.  I did get to use it, but it was the first diaper cover I had to retire.  When I did use it the fit was great though.

Leak Protection: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Never had a leak in this cover.

Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Very easy wash routine.  You just have to remember to stick the aplix tabs on the laundry tabs before washing.  Once in awhile they would come off, but that was VERY rare.  I love how fast they dry on my drying rack too.  In an hour or less they're ready to go.

Bang For The Buck: ♥♥♥♥♥ - For me this diaper was not a great value.  If I had known Lincoln was going to be a larger baby I would have gotten the next size up.  I hardly got to use this cover at all.

Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥♥ - It's hard to rate the quality and durability when I didn't get to use this diaper as long as the others, but for the time I did use this cover it held up very well.  

The Look: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This cover looks almost exactly like the Thirsties covers only with different prints.  I prefer the Thirsties prints better though.  I also really don't like the tag on this cover.  I really wish they would re-design it or hide it inside the diaper.

Weehuggers Cover w/Snaps (Size: 1) - $18.95 / 6-18 lbs (Overall Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥)

Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I really wish I would have ordered this diaper with the hook and loop closure, but the snaps weren't that bad to use.  Of course hook and loop is easier, but I couldn't pass up the cute look of the snaps.  There are only two on each wing and they snap very easily.

Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This cover fit very well and I love that I have the adjustability of the rise so I can adjust the cover larger as Lincoln grows or if I have an exceptionally large fitted diaper.

Leak Protection: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I've never had a leak with this cover.  The outside fabric did feel slightly damp though.  It didn't wick onto the clothing though.  I'm just assuming it was because this cover had a cotton exterior.

Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I like that this is a snap cover so I don't have to worry about the hook closures getting stuck on everything.  The only drawback of this diaper is the drying time.  Because it is a cotton exterior it takes quite a bit of time to dry.  Usually I'll have to wait overnight for the diaper to dry, where a regular PUL cover will dry in an hour.

Bang For The Buck: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This cover has a pretty high price tag, but you can use it for quite a long time.  You can get a whole pocket diaper for this price.  I'd feel better with a $15 price tag.

Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This cover is a great quality.  The snaps are great and I've had absolutely no wear and tear on this cover.  It still looks brand new.

The Look: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This is one of the cutest newborn covers I have.  I love the design and shape.  I love the pattern.  I love the color combinations of the binding, snaps, and fabric.  I especially love the look of a cotton exterior.  I also love that even though the tag is on the outside, it's still very cute and doesn't take away from the look of the cover.

Prowraps Colors (Size: NB) - $7.95 / 6-10 lbs (Overall Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥)

Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥♥ - These covers are so easy to use.  Easy on, easy off.

Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This cover had a good fit.  The hook and loop closure gave a very customized waist fit and the leg gussets hugged the legs nicely.  

Leak Protection: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Didn't have a leak with this cover.

Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Very easy to wash as long as you remember to affix the hook closures onto the laundry tabs.  

Bang For The Buck: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This is the most economical cover I found with leg gussets.  It doesn't fit for very long, but you can't beat the price.

Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥♥ - These covers are very heavy duty and I can't imagine them ever coming apart.  The first one I received was damaged, but they quickly mailed me out a perfect new one.

The Look: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I don't like the look of these at all.  I also don't like the texture.  They are very thick and stiff.  That being said, if you want an economical option these are fine, but don't expect much with the look of this cover.

Gen-Y Universal Cover (Size: Small) - $21.99 / 7-18 lbs (Overall Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥)

Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥♥ - After using this cover I realize that I'm not a side snapping type of person.  I really struggled trying to get these covers on.  I know a lot of people like side snapping, but I'm not one of them.  

Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This cover did not fit as early as it said it would.  Even when it did fit, I found the fit quite odd.  It just seemed poofy at the top.  That being said, it's a great cover for larger fitted diapers.

Leak Protection: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I've never had a leak with this cover.  The outside fabric did feel slightly damp though.  It didn't wick onto the clothing though.  I'm just assuming it was because this cover had a cotton exterior.

Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I like that this is a snap cover so I don't have to worry about the hook closures getting stuck on everything.  The only drawback of this diaper is the drying time.  Because it is a cotton exterior it takes quite a bit of time to dry.  Usually I'll have to wait overnight for the diaper to dry, where a regular PUL cover will dry in an hour.

Bang For The Buck: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This cover has a crazy high price for being a cover.  Love the look, but it was my most expensive cover that I purchased.  You can use it for quite a long time, but I found that I could not use it as early as it said I could.  I'd say you can start using this cover at 9 lbs.

Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Love the quality of this cover.  After two months this cover still looks brand new.

The Look: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I LOVE the look of this cover.  All the prints that Gen-Y have are sooooo cute and they're always coming out with new ones.

Newborn Diaper Reviws (PART 2) - Pockets

This is Part 2 of my Newborn Cloth Diaper Series and will be covering the pocket diapers that I used on Lincoln during the newborn phase.  I had quite a few pocket diapers in my newborn stash and loved that I could line dry them so they stayed looking newer longer.  I was not able to start using any of my pocket diapers till Lincoln was 2 weeks old after his umbilical cord fell off.  I was even able to use a few one-size pocket diapers early on in the newborn stage and I will briefly touch upon those options as well.  Listed below are the newborn pocket diapers that we used and how they worked for us.  You can also view the video below for a closer look at each of the diapers and their features.  Hope this helps you when trying to put together your own newborn cloth diaper stash.

** Please note that while I aim to provide the most thorough and honest reviews possible, this review is based on my own preferences and experiences.  Each baby is different and each parent has different likes and dislikes.  What works for one may not work for another, so keep that in mind while doing your research.**

Happy Heinys Mini One-Size - $18.97 / 4-15 lbs (Overall Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥)

Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This is a hook and loop diaper so it's easy on, easy off.  I do not like the laundry tabs though, so instead of just folding them back I have to do a twist attachment which takes a bit longer.  The pocket of this diaper is very easy to stuff despite it being a newborn diaper.  I love that.

Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Being that this is a hook and loop diaper I can get an exact fit on the waist of this diaper.  It also has a snap down rise that gives you three rise adjustments on the diaper giving you even more adjustability and a great fit.  In addition you get two inserts (one small and extra small) so you can even customize the absorbency.  

Leak Protection: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I had a few leaks with this diaper and maybe one blowout, but I feel it was more myself learning the ways of this diaper.  After I got the hang of it, this diaper worked very well.  I love that there are two inserts so I can use the smaller one in the beginning and the larger one later on.  I can also double them up if I'm going to run errands or using it overnight. 

Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I love the ease of washing pockets because I can hang dry the diaper which dries very fast and put the inserts in the dryer which also dry fast.  My only hold up on this diaper are the laundry tabs.  They don't work at all.  I instead twist the two tabs and apply them to each other, but even then they come undone most of the time and stick to my inserts or other diapers.  They don't even label their inserts so I labeled them myself so I would remember what diaper they went to.

Bang For The Buck: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Great value for this diaper!  You can use it very early and you can use it for a long time.  I'm still using this diaper.

Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Great shape after using it for 2 months.

The Look: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This diaper has lots of great prints and lots of colors to choose from.  I like the big crossover tabs too.

FuzziBunz Perfect Size XS - $13.95 / 4-12 lbs (Overall Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥)

Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥♥ - With two snaps on each wing, it's a little more time consuming than my newborn AIO diapers that have snaps.  It's also extremely difficult to stuff.  I don't know how someone with large hands would do it.  My hands are tiny and I have a hard time with it.  

Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I could never get a good fit with this diaper.  I always got leg gaps.

Leak Protection: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I always got leaks with this diaper.

Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I love the ease of washing pockets because I can hang dry the diaper which dries very fast and put the inserts in the dryer which also dry fast.  I especially love the ease of washing snap diapers.  I don't have to worry about the hook tabs getting stuck to my other diapers.  The only hard part is when it comes time to stuff them.  They don't even label their inserts so I labeled them myself so I would remember what diaper they went to.

Bang For The Buck: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This diaper is on the lower end of the price scale, but it's also on the lower end of the weight scale.

Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This diaper seems well made and holds up very well.  Mine still looks brand new.

The Look: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I really like the look of FuzziBunz.  They may not have flashy patterns, but they are very nice and clean looking with bright fun colors.

FuzziBunz Perfect Size XS (w/Hook & Loop) - $13.95 / 4-10 lbs (Overall Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥)

Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥♥ - Being a hook and loop diaper, this diaper should have been easy to use, but the hook in loop didn't work well at all.  I had a hard time securing the diaper especially in the beginning when I needed to cross the tabs over a bit.  After I washed them it got even worse.  The diaper was also impossible to stuff.  It's so small I don't know how people with bigger hands could do it.

Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I could never get a good fit with this diaper.  I always got leg gaps.

Leak Protection: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I always got leaks with this diaper.

Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I like that I can just hang dry the diaper and wash the inserts and they both dry fast, but I hate the hook and loop on this diaper.  It always came undone and stuck to other diapers.  And once again, when it came to stuffing this diaper it was very difficult.

Bang For The Buck: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This diaper is on the lower end of the price scale, but it's also on the lower end of the weight scale.

Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥♥ - The main part of the diaper seems like a good quality, but the hook and loop portion does not.  After one wash it was already curling and looking bad.

The Look: ♥♥♥♥♥ - The diaper is still fairly cute looking, but not nearly as cute as the original FuzziBunz diapers.  it also only comes in three colors and they're all pretty boring.

Thirsties Duo Diaper w/Aplix - $18.50 / 6-18 lbs (Overall Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥)

Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥♥ - The aplix version is so quick and easy.  I can put these on and take them off very fast.  They're also easy to stuff.  Since both sides of the pocket are open I can hold both ends of the insert to straighten it out.

Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥♥ - The fit on this diaper is great.  I get a great fit on the waist since it's hook and loop and I get a great fit on the rise since it has a snap down rise.  I also love that this is a 2 size system.  I was able to start using this diaper from the very beginning (unlike a lot of my other OS diapers).  I've also never had a problem with leg gaps with this diaper (something that I do have a problem with on several of my other newborn diapers).  LOVE the fit of this diaper!

Leak Protection: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This was one of my best leak protection diapers.  I maybe had one leak with this diaper and it was definitely not because the diaper failed.  Most likely I left the diaper on too long.  I love the inserts used for this diaper.  I'm totally going to buy some of these to use with some of my other pocket diapers.

Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This diaper is very easy to wash.  I love that the insert agitates out on it's own so I don't have to worry about removing it before I throw it in the hamper.  I have forgotten to stick the aplix on the laundry tabs before, but after a few times forgetting I quickly learned.  The hemp portion of the insert does take awhile to dry, but not any longer than my AIO diapers.

Bang For The Buck: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I love that this diaper is a two size diaper.  I think it's awesome that I was able to use them in the newborn stage.  If I were to use these as my entire stash, that would have saved me a lot of money.  Being the type of person I am though, I could never own just one type of diaper.  Where's the fun in that???

Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥♥ - This diaper is a pretty good quality, but the aplix portion has started to wear down.  The inner gusset trim is also pilling.  I love the quality of the insert.  It's my favorite insert of all Lincoln's diaper stash.

The Look: ♥♥♥♥♥ - I like the colors and patterns, but they could be better.  It would be awesome if they had some really cool limited edition prints... maybe in a hip rocker type of pattern.  Colored trim would also be cool.  I also wish the PUL was softer ... maybe use a TPU instead.  The aplix does get a bit grungy after awhile so I like the look of the snap version better.

Thirsties Duo Diaper w/Snaps - $18.50 / 6-18 lbs (Overall Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥)

Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥♥ -  With two snaps on each wing this diaper takes a bit longer to put on that my hook and loop diapers and diapers with only one snap on each wing, but they are still very easy to use.  They're also easy to stuff.  Since both sides of the pocket are open I can hold both ends of the insert to straighten it out.

Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥♥ -  The fit on this diaper is great.   I thought that the snap version would not give me the fit that I needed, but I was totally wrong.  It works just as well as the aplix.  I also get a great fit on the rise since it has a snap down rise.  I love that this is a 2 size system.  I was able to start using this diaper from the very beginning (unlike a lot of my other OS diapers).  I've also never had a problem with leg gaps with this diaper (something that I do have a problem with on several of my other newborn diapers).  LOVE the fit of this diaper!

One-Size & Two-Size Diaper Options
There were a few diapers that we used during the newborn stage that are one-size, or two-size that you may also want to consider when building your newborn cloth diaper stash.  Lincoln was a larger baby when born so these options fit him very well starting at 2-3 weeks (8-9 lbs).  I'm not going to go into performance reviews on these diapers at this time but wanted to show you some other options if you want to use more of a one-size system.  Please view my video more a little more detail and keep your eyes open for the full reviews on my blog in the coming weeks.
