Surro Files - 10 Weeks ~ With A Little Snowman ~

The Bun
This week the baby is now the size of a prune (1.2 in) and 14 oz.  A prune????  Really???  Sounds like a little old man rather than a cute little baby.  This week is a big weak!  It marks the beginning of a critical period in the baby's development when all the vital organs have formed and are beginning to function.  The baby is also growing tiny nails on the fingers and toes as well as tiny buds for teeth.  Oh my!!!!!  Nails and teeth already?!?!?

Baby is the size of a Prune ... only cuter.  Haha!
The Oven
Not a lot going on with the oven.  Still the same.  Normal belly in the morning.  Huge belly in the evening.  Not really nauseous anymore... but still eating us out of house and home.  Speaking of food.... hmmm... I think the kitchen is calling my name.  Haha! ... Ok, I'm Back.  Ate a PB&J Sandwich.  Yum!!!

The Belly @ 10 Weeks
The Happenings In the Kitchen
Ultrasound week!!!!!!  Yay!!!!!!  Each time we get to see the little bun, it's an amazing moment.  Even after my own pregnancies, watching a baby grow never ceases to amaze me.  It's just incredible!  I got to our appointment early Thursday morning at 9w4d along in the pregnancy.  Belle was waiting and ready to Skype in for the ultrasound, but feared she would not be able to due to a bad internet connection.  Her fears were correct.  We were not able to get the connection to work, but I had my video camera poised and ready.  Baby was wiggling their arms all over the place!  Although I didn't notice that till I got home and watched the video.  I was too busy making sure I got it all on video that I couldn't really see very clearly looking at my little video screen.  Wanted to make sure that it was all captured for Belle and Adam.  Baby was measuring in at 9 weeks 6 days (2 days ahead) and had a heartbeat of 160 bpm.  Great appointment!!!!!

9w4d Ultrasound Picture ~ Adorable little Snowman!!!
My sister came to visit this weekend. We took our boys who are 6 weeks apart to a fun jungle gym place, took the whole family up to the snow, and tried to look at awesome Christmas lights, but the crowds were just too much.  Overall it was a great weekend!  Hope baby bun wasn't too cold in the snow.  I kept bundled up ... except for my belly picture of course.
Our Family Up At the Snow
I also got a gift from Belle and Adam.  It's safely tucked under my tree till Christmas.  I wonder what it could be????

The Chefs
Belle and Adam are excited, excited, excited!!!!  Things were always going fast, but our last ultrasound really kicked things into gear.  Belle said they watched the video at least 10 times that night and she looks at her latest picture all the time.  She's started on her breastfeeding regimen of herbs and oatmeal to get lactation started, has narrowed down the baby names quite a bit, and has finished the pregnancy announcement.  Yay!!!!!!  I can't wait till next week when they spread the news to their friends and family.  So exciting!!!!!!!

Oh!  They also let me know that their little nickname for the baby bun is Stitch.  Love that little movie.  Let's just hope that this little bean is less crazy than Stitch though.  We don't want them blowing up the universe or anything.  Haha!

Coming Soon !!!
Our next Hormone Check is December 18th.  These results will tell me if I can stop medications and be released from the clinic to my OB doctor.
Our NT Scan is January 9th This is the ultrasound where they will look for abnormalities.  Hoping we don't see anything out of the ordinary.  It really is an amazingly detailed scan.  Belle will be flying out for this one!!!!
Our first OB appt with Dr. B is January 10th  We will be almost 14 weeks into the pregnancy at this point.  Super excited that Belle will be flying out for this one too!!!!

  1. I've been following this since the beginning (I think?) but haven't commented until now. I LOVE what you are doing for this family. I would LOVE to be pregnant again and I would be so thrilled to give another family a baby, especially since I have never bonded with my babies until well after the birth, but after my last birth (a UC) I don't think I could birth in a hospital again. :-/

    1. Maria - I've always loved your last birth story!!! It was amazing! You should totally be a surrogate. I'm sure there are parents that are also looking at doing a home birth. I always labor at home so long that my husband is afraid that your birth story will become ours one day. Luckily we've always made it. :)
