Surro Files - 22 Weeks ~ Running in Color

The Bun
Baby is now about the size of a papaya (11 in) and 1 pound.  Wow!  We've hit the 1 pound mark!!!!  Baby's senses are really starting to develop this week.  Taste buds are forming and nerve endings are developed enough for baby to experience the sensation of touch.

The Oven
So, this week I had a few comments about my belly that kind of hurt my feelings regarding it's size and that I'm larger than I should be.  I don't know why I let this get to me.  I know that I'm a torpedo belly type of pregnant person.  My belly grows and it grows fast.  That's just the way this oven model works.  But of course I let the hormones get the best of me and the tears started flowing.  Gah!  I did feel better after my doctor assured me that this is just the way my body works and although I'm measuring way ahead, she's not concerned in the slightest.  Despite the assurances I've made the following changes to my eating and exercise habits to help curb the growth rate a bit.  I'm going to stop eating so much sweets.  I can't help it.  I have a sweet tooth as it is, and when pregnancy hits, that craving increases by 10.  But I'm going to try and limit sweets to the weekend only.  So far this week was a success!  No sweets during the whole week, and I enjoyed my best friend's birthday with some cake and cookies.  Yum!  Secondly, I'm going to start exercising more.  That was my plan all along, but I'm always tired, working on projects, spending time with the kids, or out of town... so it didn't really happen.  I have been going to yoga class each Saturday, but I've now added in 2 days of yoga workout videos at home and 2 days of aerobic workout videos at home (both pregnancy videos).  That gives me 5 days of exercise a week.  Not too bad!  I'm pretty proud of myself for my first successful week with the new plan.

The Happenings In the Kitchen
This week I went to our 21 week OB appointment.  Just a basic appointment with the doctor this time but I did get a lot of questions answered for us...

How many people are allowed in the delivery room? - 3 (Belle, Adam, and Brian ... or other support person)
How many people are allowed in the c-section room? - 3 (Belle, Adam, and Brian)
What positions can I push in other than my back? - Options are open within reason of visibility for doctor.  I'd like to try hands and knees or squatting... side lying if that's all that's allowed.
Can we order another ultrasound for when Belle is here in May? - Yes!  Sounds like a great idea so Belle and Adam can see their little one again before the birth.

This week Linc has been out of town camping, so it's just me and the girls.  One of our fun days together was spent up at the mountains.  It was supposed to be a snow day, but alas there was no snow.  Ended up being a hiking day which was just as fun!

This past weekend was also one of my best friend's birthdays.  She lives a few hours away now, but it was awesome that she came down to spend it with us all.  We had a girls night with all our girlfriends, and a sleepover.  Can't remember the last time I had a sleepover!  The next day a few of us all ran in the Fresno Graffiti 5k Run.  Sooooo much fun!  We got there a bit late, but it was still a blast!!!

The Chefs
"This week was all about baby shopping! We bought: the crib, mattress, sheets, newborn size diapers, cloth diapers, cloth diaper accessories, more baby clothes, clothing accessories (socks, hats, etc..) I also got some great deals on Zulily for some baby books and a few toys, I can't wait until they all arrive! Im starting to feel like I have everything I need to be ready (almost)!  I also sorted all the baby clothing by size and wrote down everything we have. This way we have a list for when we go shopping and get tempted by something cute, we can try to make sure not everything is in the same size.  And I also got myself a few awesome dresses and tops for nursing. If all goes well, these outfits will be a big help while traveling with a newborn and trying to breastfeed.

Our Disneyland trip is coming up soon, we have less than 2 months left before my next visit!  This week I was also able to book a Disney surprise for Chana's girls. I cant wait!!!!!!" - Belle

  1. You look like you have a short torso. I do too, I looked seven months pregnant at just four months. Each body is different and short torsos do not leave any room for the baby to go but out! Stay healthy! Blessings!

  2. If I remember correctly, Linc was a big baby? So even though this baby isnt biologically yours, it makes sense that your body is still growing a big baby?! I LOVE the size of your belly, and Love reading about your surrogacy. You are such an amazing woman!

    1. Linc was 8lb4oz ... so big/average. The donors for Belle and Adam's baby are both tall, so maybe we'll have a tall baby on our hands.
