Dippee Dypees - Alpha & Omega OS Fitted Review

Dippee Dypees Alpha & Omega OS Fitted Cloth Diaper
What do you think of when you hear the word "one-size"?  I know personally I would expect that a diaper labeled one-size would fit from birth to potty training.  That being said, a lot of diapers don't exactly do that.  Usually the diaper will be too big for a newborn and/or too small for a large toddler.  Well the creator of Dippee Dypees noticed this trend as well.  That's when she came up with her Alpha and Omega OS fitted diaper.  This diaper solves the problems that most one-size diapers have.  Check out my review below to see what I thought about how this oh so common problem was solved.

Diaper Features:

Sizing:  One Size fitting babies from Newborn-35 lbs via included 12x14 newborn prefold/insert and a fold down rise on the front of the diaper.

Closure:  Snaps (3 per wing) with crossover wings and a fold down rise.  Crossover wings go both ways so they're easy to use for both left handed and right handed people.  (Snapless is also available)

Exterior:  Various decorative 100% cotton woven, cotton knit, & cotton velour fabrics

Interior Lining:  Cotton Velour

Hidden Layers:  Organic Bamboo French Terry

Soaker:  12x14" fold to fit 2-ply insert/prefold with organic bamboo french terry on the bottom and cotton velour on the top.  Also included is a 2-ply contoured booster composed of organic bamboo french terry and cotton velour.

Manufactured:  USA

Approximate Retail Value:  $17-$19.50

Performance Review:

Ease Of Use: ♥♥♥♥ - I found this diaper pretty easy to use.  I just lay the soaker in, lay the doubler in, fold up, snap, and go!  The diaper does have three snaps per wing so that does take time, but 3 snaps is pretty typical for a diaper.

Adjustability & Fit: ♥♥♥♥♥ - The adjustability and fit of this diaper is both a plus and a minus for me.  I LOVE that it comes with a prefold inside the diaper that can be used on newborns.  What a genius idea!  I also love that this diaper can get REALLY big so it's great for a large baby as well.  Great for my chunky monkey!  I just think that it needs an adjustment to fit the babies in between.  Luckily Linc and Kamryn (tester #2) have huge thighs so it fits them, but I have the front folded over also so it's not getting much smaller.  You could do a double fold, but I don't think it would hold without a cover and I love showing off my fitted diapers.  I'm wondering if this diaper would be better with a snap down rise???  Maybe a snap down rise and a fold over rise?  Or maybe tighter leg elastic?  This diaper also comes snapless.  That also might be a better option if you're going to use a cover.  Then you could fold it down as much as you want to.  I also would like two more snaps on the fold over rise.  Linc's got a big belly, but a short rise.  Oh!  I also must say that I LOVE the trim fit of this diaper.  Linc looks nice and slim in it.

Leak Protection: ♥♥♥♥ - For being a trim diaper this diaper works really well!  I let Linc go coverless in it all the time and when he pees he's usually just cool/warm to the touch, or damp at the most.  It does get wet around the leg elastic so if you have a onesie on your baby then it will probably wick onto their clothes, but I usually just let Linc go without pants so I don't have a problem with it.  Both Linc and Kamryn (tester #2) also wore this diaper at night without any leaks. *Please note: This diaper does need a cover to be waterproof.*

Wash Routine: ♥♥♥♥ - Wash routine for this diaper is very easy.  I just throw the whole diaper in the wash and then the dryer.  The diaper is pretty fast drying for a fitted.  It only takes about 75 minutes or less.  The only downside is that the soaker and doubler do not snap in so I always have to match them all up and re-assemble after the laundry gets done.

Bang For The Buck: ♥♥♥♥ - Priced just under the $20 mark, I feel this diaper is a really great price for a designer WAHM diaper.  I'd give it 5 stars if the fit issues could be solved.

Quality & Durability: ♥♥♥♥ - One of the diapers I received did have the top seam come undone, but the owner was super nice about it and paid for me to ship it back and have it fixed.  The other diaper I had no problems with at all.  Everything looks perfect on the diaper and the materials look top notch.

The Look: ♥♥♥♥♥ -  I love the look of this diaper!  The print is cute, it's trim, and I love the coordinating interior trim and snaps.  I loved the look of this diaper so much that I actually bought another one before I even received the tester diaper.  I just couldn't wait.  The owl diaper is my tester diaper and I couldn't pass up buying the Jack diaper.  Linc is so set for Halloween now!

In Conclusion:
I really love this diaper and would totally recommend it to someone that has a super chunky toddler.  Our other testers (Jessica and Kamryn) actually loved this diaper so much that they've already purchased one for themselves.  My only hangup is the sizing in between.  Like I said, I'd really love to see rise snaps on this diaper.  I think it would make it perfect!  I really love the concept of how this diaper will truly grow with your child from birth till potty training and I think the rise snaps will help with that.  That being said, I LOVE my Jack diaper and it looks super cute on the bum!!!!

  1. I have this diaper with a snap down rise, and it is an awkward fit for my baby and WAY to big without it. It isn't a great fit for us at all.
