Honestly, it works like a charm, even on toddler's project messes (including fingerpaints, mud, grass stains, marker & playdoh!) hubby's field stains and baby's spitup!

Here's my recipe:
http://healingspace88.blogspot.com/2011/07/homemade-laundry-detergent-really-yup.html

These ingredients *rarely* leave washer residue. And I use distilled white vinegar as a softening agent and stinkie buster, which also helps keep the washer clean!

As for prepping bamboo and hemp, it's not hard at all, just numerous hot wash cycles sans detergent. But definitely worth the labor as they're so absorbent and never have stick issues! I'm interested in seeing what you do for wool prep!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02931482143415413211noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5803360095744161499.post-63304084340470727282011-08-16T09:12:58.932-07:002011-08-16T09:12:58.932-07:00It never occured to me to clean the washer! I never bothered to do that... and it's an old (and I mean OLD - from the 1980's)washing machine that has been used by multiple families over the years. *shrug* I guess I didn't think there was anything in it that could really hurt my diapers. Although the nesting phase of pregnancy could be taking over, because all of a sudden, scrubbing out the washing machine sounds like a great (almost fun) idea! :DAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09491907943811549691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5803360095744161499.post-56185490812870237922011-08-15T08:01:36.886-07:002011-08-15T08:01:36.886-07:00Don't worry. You just have covers and synthetic materials which only require one wash to get them ready to go.The Happy Hangerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01471396901269433949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5803360095744161499.post-59095562546388023252011-08-15T07:35:21.786-07:002011-08-15T07:35:21.786-07:00That is so much work!!That is so much work!!Skotyzgirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15088831878977144587noreply@blogger.com
